Ride Report # 244 - Friday 17/01/2014

Todays 40 + heat didn't stop Dave Weller, Scott Papeneux, Phil Griffiths, Eric Belot and Rod Hagen from showing-up for the ride.  Unfortunately Eric couldn't complete the ride, but was with us in spirit.

Our first leg took us over The Dandenongs through Olinda, Sassafras & down the Kallista-Emerald Rd to Emerald for morning tea.  Due to the weather conditions, we shortened the ride and headed to Noojee for lunch through Yarra Junction & Powelltown.  Lunch was at The Toolshed Bistro where the drinks were cold and the burgers tasty.

Considering the extreme weather, it was a good ride and great to have long-time members Dave, Scott & Rod get along for a day ride.

The next ride is a Twilight Ride leaving Bayswater at 5.00 Pm on Thur 30 January with dinner at The Olinda Pub.

Hope to see you all on the next ride.

Ride Report # 243 Christmas Ride 24 Nov 2013

Ride Report # 243  Christmas Ride Sunday 24 November

When I turned up this morning for a club social ride with the spectre of rain and met with Nathan, Jodie and Clayton, I have to admit I had some flash backs.  But they held true and made it all the way to Licola without an incident.

Sunny Licola to greet us made the patches of wet all worthwhile.  Due to the small turnout we decided to dine at the Railway Hotel, where we met up with the hard riders who aren’t phased by the weather. Thanks to those Ulysssians for their welcome.

Although a small turnout it was a fun ride.

Day Ride #242 – Friday 15th November, 2013

It was a gloomy start for our Friday ride, but that didn’t stop Rixy, Eric, Greg, Paul or Bill meeting Phil and myself at Narre Warren.

Phil led us through the slippery Gembrook roads and brought us safely out the other end at Hoddles Creek and then on to Yarra Junction for morning tea.

The Reefton Spur was fantastic as always, and as we reached the top you could be mistaken for thinking it was the middle of July given the 2% visibility and the near freezing temperature.

The road down to Marysville was mostly dry and the Black Spur didn’t disappoint either, although a threesome of buxom ladies from the other side of town managed to total their Toyota Rav 4 on a bend leaving Eric no option other than stop and render his assistance – I’ve never seen him stop so quick!!

Lunch was at the Beechworth Bakery and then we finished off with a squirt up Myers Creek Road to Toolangi and the back down Chum Creek Road to Healesville for our finish.

A great day out, and as always, great company.  See you on the next ride.

Ride Report #239 9 Sep 2013

Ride Report #239 - 9 September 2013

It was great to see such a mix of riders this morning at our Diamond Creek start point; Rhys O'Neill on his Ducati SuperMotard, Paul Gration on his burbling V Strom, Simon Fabrikant on his big old Honda, Greg Nixon on his GSX1000, Mal Cooper on his Harley and me on the Tiger1050 - not a BMW in sight!

Unfortunately we had a late scratching with Mal 'I've never been so busy' Cooper being called away for work before he'd even finished his coffee, so the rest of us headed to Yea for morning tea via Kinglake and Flowerdale.

Simon left us at Yea and Paul, Rhys, Greg and I headed to Alexandra and took the Skyline Road across the top to Eildon before making our way to the Blackspur Inn for lunch.

We finished off the day by taking the Black Spur down to Healesville where we parted ways. The few showers we encountered along the way couldn't dampen our spirits and as always the company was great - thanks fellas.
