Ride Report 270

Ride #270 looked to have an ominous start with dark clouds and strong winds looking the order of the day. Fortunately, other than a few minor spots of rain after lunch the weather never got any worse. Clayton gathered his intrepid band together, had the briefing inside Maccas with a coffee, and by 9.30 we were actually rolling. It was good to see a few faces that haven't been around for a awhile, ie, Steve Mole, Darren Kendall, (Daggles) and Bill Middleditch. That left Paul Gration and I filling out the pack. With the weather the way it was, it was a cruisey ride across to Warrandyte for morning coffee and cake. From there it was onward to lunch. Unfortunately shortly before Wallan, Daggles' old bike decided the pace was too much and let him know it didn't want to carry on. He nursed it into Wallan and when we got there, it gave up the ghost altogether. After realising there was nothing to be done about it on site, he arranged for someone to come pick it up and we said our goodbyes. Onward again to Woodend and lunch at the Victoria Hotel.A leisurely lunch was had and favourite tales were told. Then homeward bound through Whittlesea and final formation and farewells at Kinglake. It was a good Winter's day ride and well enjoyed. Thanks to Clayton for arranging and leading it.

Ride Report #269 Sunday 2 Augusts 2015

Ride Report #269:

Sunday 2 August 2015

Only Greg Nixon was brave enough to join me on yesterday's ride, but we made the most of the fine weather and mostly dry roads.

Leaving from Bayswater we had a pretty good run up Mountain Hwy to Sassafras and then down the other side of the mountain to Monbulk before twisting our way out to Gembrook. From Gembrook we headed south and took the Princes Hwy to the Labertouche turn off and headed to Neerim South via Jindivick.

We had a quick bite to eat at Neerim South and then finished the ride via Nayook and the Powelltown road to Yarra Junction.

The next ride is Friday 21/08 from Narre Warren to Woodend.

Friday Ride 12 June - Mystery Tour

Winter Mystical Magical Mystery tour 12 June 2015

The Friday ride on June 12 promised to be one of the few days without rain.  While it did remain dry, it turned out to be a very brisk day to say the least.

With 9 people and 8 bikes it was a great turn out for a ride in the middle of winter, although the boys in blue were outnumbered by the Firies.

Riding in and out of fog and sunshine was the trend for the beginning of the ride through the Dandenongs and it was cold enough for anything heated to be turned on full with one very warm member sporting a heated vest and gloves.
Morning tea was had at Noojee where we all enjoyed a hot beverage to warm us up.

The lead rider picked up a small hitch hiker on the way to Mirboo North where we were blessed with the company of Sylvia and Sarah for lunch at the brewery.

Despite the cold weather we all had a great time.

Hope to see you on the next ride.
